EPSA President & CEO Receives Great Transformers Award
"Competitive power suppliers are leading the way in improving and expanding the operations of existing generation, continuing to develop new clean energy infrastructure and providing transparent, market-based solutions to the energy challenges facing the country."
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, John E. Shelk, Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) President & CEO, received a "Great Transformers" award as a thought leader "responsible in part for shaping the evolving landscape of the energy sector." The award was presented by UtiliPoint International and Forbes magazine's Custom Solutions Group at the Transformation 2010 conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In accepting the award Shelk said in part, "I am honored to accept this award, but the accolades properly belong to EPSA's member companies and other competitive suppliers as well as to the EPSA staff team. Competitive power suppliers are the true innovators working every day to continue transforming the power industry to produce more efficient, cleaner, reliable and competitively-priced electricity for consumers." Shelk went on to say, "Competitive power suppliers are leading the way in improving and expanding the operations of existing generation, continuing to develop new clean energy infrastructure and providing transparent, market-based solutions to the energy challenges facing the country. In meeting these challenges it is critical to allow clear competitive market forces to guide the resource decisions that are made over the coming years. It is through an open, transparent and well-regulated marketplace that long-term resource decisions and investments will be made most efficiently and at the lowest risk for consumers."
The Great Transformers series is comprised of taped interviews over three months late last year with 17 senior executives, public policymakers, consumer advocates and other thought leaders. Key issues covered in the series included the future of energy and related industries, the impact of recent economic conditions, proposed regulatory changes, and various technology pathways. The video and audio podcasts of the Great Transformers interview series are available on www.utilipoint.com and www.forbescustom.com.
