EPSA ANNOUNCES NEW PUBLIC AFFAIRS VICE PRESIDENT
WASHINGTON, D.C. - John E. Shelk, President and CEO of the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA), today announced the addition of Daphne Magnuson to EPSA's senior staff as Vice President of Public Affairs.
Magnuson comes to EPSA from the American Gas Association (AGA), where she had worked on behalf of natural gas utilities since 1997, most recently as senior director of communications. Prior to her time with AGA, Magnuson held a variety of communications positions in Washington, D.C., working in politics and the media.
"Daphne Magnuson's extensive background in the energy industry working with the media, member companies, consumers and managing policy issues make her a valuable addition to the EPSA staff," Shelk said. "She brings a fine understanding of the importance of energy to the U.S. consumer, the economy and the environment, which complements EPSA's heightened profile as competitive electricity markets gain public recognition and acceptance," he said.
Shelk added, "Throughout 2007, EPSA has expanded its advocacy efforts on multiple levels, including the addition of highly-skilled professionals to the staff and an expanded focus on partnering with allies, such as state and regional associations."
Among other positions before her career at AGA, Magnuson was manager of news information for ABC News for two years, worked at the Republican National Committee and on national campaigns in the 1980s and began her career as a legislative analyst for former U.S. Rep. Norman Shumway, R-Calif. Magnuson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia in 1981.
