EPSA Commends Senate for Reconfirmation of Kelliher and Wellinghoff at FERC

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) today commended members of the U.S. Senate for their re-confirmation of Joseph Kelliher and Jon Wellinghoff for second terms on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Kelliher serves as chairman and Wellinghoff as a member of the Commission.

"We applaud the Senate for voting to re-confirm Chairman Kelliher and Commissioner Wellinghoff," EPSA President and CEO John E. Shelk said. "Chairman Kelliher has distinguished himself through his leadership in implementing the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which laid out significant new responsibilities for the Commission. His extensive experience at FERC, as well as on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. Department of Energy will continue to be a valuable asset to the Commission as it shapes policies designed to foster efficient, competitive energy markets."

Shelk said, "Commissioner Wellinghoff's reconfirmation strengthens the Commission even further. We welcome his continuing leadership in improving wholesale electricity markets while encouraging demand response, energy efficiency and renewable energy. The nation benefits from his perspective as a former consumer advocate in Nevada and his keen interest in new technologies."

Chairman Kelliher's second term ends in 2012 and Commissioner Wellinghoff's second term ends in 2013.
