EPSA Statement on Designation of Jon Wellinghoff as FERC Chairman and Intention to Nominate Suedeen Kelly as FERC Commissioner
WASHINGTON, D.C. - John E. Shelk, president and CEO of the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) issued the following statement today in response to the announcement that Commissioner Jon Wellinghoff has been named Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission effective immediately, and that the President intends to nominate Commissioner Suedeen Kelly for another term on the Commission.
"We look forward to working with Chairman Wellinghoff as he officially steps into his new role at the Commission. Chairman Wellinghoff recognizes the critical role wholesale competition plays in powering economic and environmental benefits. This includes enabling the development of renewable energy and spurring innovation. We commend Chairman Wellinghoff for his commitment to public service. We look forward to his able leadership and that of his FERC colleagues at an important time for energy and environmental issues.
